One Riverfront Partner Float:
Regional and local stakeholders gather for float, food, and fun

July 18, 2017

Grand Junction - On July 21, 2017, One Riverfront (formerly Colorado Riverfront Commission) will be hosting a Colorado River raft trip for intergovernmental agency and nonprofit collaborators. The float trip, which will run from Blue Heron Boat Launch to the Fruita Section of James M. Robb Colorado River State Park, provides an informal setting for information sharing and dialogue between partners advocating for coordinated community stewardship of this region’s river corridors.

The float trip serves as the summer gathering for partners who meet on a quarterly basis to strengthen relationships between government and private interests working towards common goals, including developing and enhancing riverfront habitat, trails, and experiences along the Colorado and Gunnison rivers.

In addition to the suite of governmental agencies attending the float, a number of nonprofits will also be participating, including Tamarisk Coalition, Colorado Canyons Association, and Western Colorado Conservation Corps. While the mission of each of these groups differs, they are all united in their desire to promote river restoration, recreation, and stewardship, with an emphasis on increased opportunities for education and outreach.

In the true collaborative nature of the event, the Bureau of Land Management, Colorado Canyons Association, and Tamarisk Coalition are providing boats and guides for the trip and Colorado Parks & Wildlife will be hosting a picnic lunch at the float terminus. Lunch is being generously provided by Barons, with refreshments by Many Rivers Brewing.
