Kristen joined the Tamarisk Coalition team in February 2012 as the Funding Program Coordinator. In this role, Kristen works with practitioners to achieve short-term and long-term funding for restoration work. Prior to the Tamarisk Coalition, Kristen worked as a land use planner for the consulting firm Matrix Design Group. In this position Kristen helped communities throughout the country develop various types of land use plans. These plans included strategies for ensuring compatible development, implementing conservation, identifying funding mechanisms and improving inter-jurisdictional and agency coordination. Prior to joining Matrix Design Group, Kristen worked as a Project Manager with the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment, where she helped defense communities carry out planning activities around military installations and identify funding opportunities to implement these plans. Kristen has also worked for the State of California, Office of Planning and Research, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments and the Fort Ord Reuse Authority. Kristen earned a Masters of Arts in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Reed College in Portland, OR. Kristen lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with her husband Soren and dog Solomon. She enjoys skiing, fishing, hiking, doing yoga, cooking, and dancing.
