Concert for a Cause

Join us this Sunday!  Stray Grass will be performing from 1-4pm at the Edgewater Brewery. Proceeds will go toward the launch of Many Rivers Brewing Co. and benefit the Tamarisk Coalition. Beer on tap will be Many Rivers Brewing Amber Ale, a new locally brewed beer (manyriversbrewing.com). 100% of profits from Many Rivers Brewing Co. beer sales will go to river conservation projects in Colorado.

Workshop for Riparian Restoration and the Tamarisk Beetle

On November 8th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tamarisk Coalition is working under a Walton Family Foundation grant to present a workshop on riparian restoration, focusing on areas impacted by the tamarisk beetle.

Hosted by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, with sponsorship from Stillwater Sciences and SWCA Environmental Consultants, this one-day workshop is geared towards land managers, folks on-the-ground, and those wishing to have a better understanding of tamarisk beetle interactions with riparian ecosystems.

Dolores River Tamarisk Removal & Restoration Project

Join us for a second year working with the Tamarisk Coalition and the Dolores River Restoration Partnership to restore habitat along the Dolores River in Bedrock, CO. Volunteers will hand remove non-native, invasive Tamarisk trees and seed native grasses throughout the riparian (river-side) corridor, including in the Dolores River Canyon Wilderness Study Area. This is a rare opportunity to camp out with your WRV community and work in this truly scenic and historic.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Free the Trees

Free the trees!  Help us improve wildlife habitat at Grand Junction Wildlife Area, located at Grand Junction's namesake - the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers.

Volunteers will be helping to remove weed barrier from cottonwood trees that were planted as part of a restoration project nearly two decades ago. The weed barrier fabric did not break down as expected and is currently keeping the trees from growing properly into mature cottonwoods. Volunteers will be using scissors and/or box cutters to remove the weed barrier.
